Our Organization

West Virginia Federal Credit Union was organized in October 1965 as a not for profit, member owned financial cooperative chartered as a corporation under the laws of the United States, operating under charter no. 17057 of the National Credit Union Administration pursuant to the provisions of the Federal Credit Union Act. The board of directors is elected each year in accordance with the regulators for the safety and soundness of the Credit Union. As such, it is charged to monitor the efforts of the Credit Union’s management activities to ensure the Credit Union maintains its sound financial condition. The board of director’s work in partnership with the CEO in an open and honest relationship built on mutual trust and respect. The CEO shall provide strategic direction in the planning, implementation and operation of the Credit Union. The CEO shall assess, organize and control the Credit Union’s risk by establishing a qualified management team to efficiently and effectively carry out strategies developed to move the Credit Union safely into the future. The CEO shall develop Statements of Management Philosophy, Principles and Expectations to communicate the key aspects and core values under which all employees shall operate. The CEO and management team shall at least annually assess the Credit Union’s risk management, core values and challenges to develop strategic initiatives to gain consensus on key vision strategies and objectives designed to guide staff and officials in our constant pursuit of our mission and vision.

Membership

If you are already a member, we encourage you to take advantage of the products and services we provide. Membership is open to persons who live, work, worship or attend school in, and businesses and other legal entities located in Kanawha, Putnam, Cabell, Lincoln, Boone and Wayne counties in West Virginia. By maintaining a share account you are able to participate in our annual meeting where we elect our volunteer Board of Directors.
