FAQs

What is phishing?

Fraudulent emails known as phishing scams pose as your financial institution or other trusted businesses in order to obtain your personal and financial information. Phishing is a particularly devious scam because it attempts to exploit the relationship of trust that you have with those businesses. The e-mail directs the user to visit a website where they are asked to update personal information, such as passwords and credit card, social security, and account numbers that the legitimate organization already knows. The website however, is bogus and set up only to steal the user’s information. WVFCU would not send requests for this type of information via e-mail.
